Another day passes...

Another day of working and earning and bus rides and rain and no art and saving money and thinking about what's for tea and thinking about what to do on your day off and realising you already planned something. Procrastination strikes again! How hard is it to stick to your passion when bills have to be paid and the day job spills into the evening.

So all my work is...as usual...running late but looking great!

If only I was like Anna Pascal who just baked was happy ...and ignored taxes.

Photo of the Week!

This one was an eeeeeee-zzzeeeeeeeeee choice...Oded Ezer's Homage to Milton Glaser's I Heart NY.

America's on the brain right now. xx

Found Online...

My recent finds online....

The first is a pop up series by Daisy Lew inspired by the city's iconic features, yellow taxis, skyscrapers and The Statue of Liberty etc. I have been doodling city scapes recently thinking about how to fit a busy scene of squashed buildings into a pop up. She has done it perfectly.

The second find of this week came via the Robert Sabuda website, the artist is Nate Coonrod who created this awesome pop up for a Nokia phone promo. Bright colours being a fav of mine this caught my eye. You can't buy this in the shop (what with it being a commission n'all) so below is the video of it in action!

Enjoy!

If only I could knit....

My sister is an avid knitter. She has taking up knitting and is getting really quite good. At the moment she is working on a patchwork blanket, but very soon she could build her skills up to THIS...
You can purchase these lovelies for yourself at www.donnawilson.com, how much would I like a rainy day cushion for cosy film filled afternoons on the sofa. Officially added to the 'when I have my own home' wishlist.

Honeymoon road trip! New Hampshire to San Francisco

My husband and I are mega excited! We are driving on Route 66 (as much as is still possible!) from Chicago to LA in the Autumn for our honeymoon and while planning how to get to the starting line in Chicago from his home state of New Hampshire we found out we go pretty much past Niagara Falls!!!!!

Now who would pass up that opportunity???? Not. Us.

So we are heading to Niagara! I.Am.So.Excited! This trip is going to be one of a kind.

Also found this little gem that lurks on the California side of the roadtrip. Me thinks I'll be rockin' up there for a burger and shake...I am too excited for words. Haven't even booked a car yet. Just a flight. Doesn't matter....too excited.

Total distance according to Google Maps is 3,381 Miles! And driving straight, no stops no nothing would take us 2 days and 7 hours. We go through roughly 12 states and one whole time zone!!!

Photo of the Week!

Ok so the second photo of the week award goes to Carl Kleiner! (Well two photos, one had my heart being all paper and colours and the other because it is just so COOL.)
Check out his stuff and be inspired to go make stuff and break stuff and photo stuff and get all artsy!

Wedding Proposal

These are quite possibly the most wonderfully, papery, crafty, brilliant engagement proposals I have ever seen!

The above is the stylish creation of Kyle Olmon, Paper Creator of 'Castle' & 'Baby Signs' and part of the Robert Sabuda & Matthew Reinhart Studio team!

The one below is a video I watched about a year ago on youtube, I love the snorkeling pop up! White card pop ups always look so so stylised and beautiful, I'm totally in love with pop up proposals! (can't beat your own though eh??)

Visiting the Sabuda/Reinhart Studio

Taking a trip down memory lane today. These are photos from my trip to NYC to visit Robert Sabuda and Matthew Reinhart along with their talented team of paper artists.

Every time I think I should just stick with my day job I think about how incredibly inspiring it was to be in their studio and I fall in love with pop ups all over again!

See the full article on their website. :-)

Have you seen these Staircases!

Look at HOW COOL you can make your staircase! These pictures are getting printed..cut out...and stuck in my dream home book!

You snooze you lose IKEA! See all the other awesome designs here.

Procrastination

Procrastination is my middle name. Even now I am writing these words when I should be getting on with becoming a great paper artist. I have already decided I will shower, make wedding flowers, write wedding invites, have lunch and maybe take a walk before I start designing my pop up book. Oh how I wish I was still at uni, able each day to sit in a studio and doodle and fold and cut and stick without worrying about a day job, or money, or getting an apartment...oooo maybe I should look at flat rentals....and there I go again.....

enjoy and see the original blog post here.

Lotus Flower Twist n' work in progress!

This is the origami lotus flower design using more strips of paper and no leaves! Not sure what flower it makes but it makes something!
